He explains “This particular track was inspired by the vibes I get from the Beastie Boys, for instance,” Ridha told Rolling Stone. “Their Licensed to Ill album is one of my all-time favorite records, and to me ‘What You Want’ has some sort of B-boy style mixed with my obsession on robot vocals and modern sound aesthetics. This song combines a lot of things I love about electronic music.”

What will be so paramount to Oct. 2 is the reaffirmation of where we come from, where we are and where we will be as a genre and as a community. Boys Noize helped blaze the trail of electronic dance music and so we patiently wait to hear what his take is in the rapidly coming climate! (FYI we like what we hear!)

We all know about the raging party in the desert that is Coachella – but have you heard about their latest development at sea? Just announced, the S.S. Coachella festival is set to depart mid December; destination: Bahamas and Jamaica (two separate voyages). Find all the details by clicking “READ MORE” below!

The festival will take place on the Celebrity Silhouette, a high-end cruise ship that’s just waiting for its own music festival. You’ll be able to experience all the joys of a first-class cruise, all the while being able to watch live performances by the artists who are attending. The basic plan is party at sea, and then party on land when you get there.

If you’ve ever heard of Holy Ship, you’re already familiar with this type of cruise-n-rave. The first year of Holy Ship was definitely successful, with the second voyage selling out before you could do much about it. We’re hoping that what we’re seeing with Holy Ship and S.S. Coachella is a rising trend – we’d love to see more huge festivals afloat (just think about it… EDC on the water? Sound dangerous, and yet I’m sure we’d all go).

But here’s the big picture: Coachella is getting more and more massive with each passing year. This past event grossed over 45 million dollars (which is the most that a single entertainment/concert event has ever made, by the way). We’re excited to see how much farther the Coachella name will go; this is it’s first appearance outside the main festival, but what’s on the horizon?

The lineup itself is an interesting one at that. Coachella has chosen to offer a variety of music, mainly alternative, but still inclusive of other genres such as hip hop and other EDM with DJ sets. We’re glad that the boys at Coachella have decided to offer a wide range of music on a party cruise; while other similar cruises have offered only one type of music, this one is expanding into various genres, various crowds, and is really opening the previously set limitations and expectations for this type of event.

Elektropusher offers us a dub mix of Herve’s “Show Me the Light,” another easy-to-listen to song with crisp production. It’s no wonder that he’d choose to add his personal touch to Herve’s work, and it definitely isn’t a disappointment.

Although this song was up for preview a couple weeks ago, Sharooz has decided to give “Phantasm” away to his fans today as a free download. The track has a very clean progression, leaving you thoroughly satisfied throughout its duration. This artist produces from London, and his tracks have been dropped in sets by fellow producers such as A-Trak and Moby. Luckily, we will have more — just gotta wait until June 13th, when this EP drops. Keep an eye out. If you haven’t heard any of Bird Peterson’s Drankenstein productions, you’re missing out. Bird Peterson has been pumping out mixes and individual remixes full of older electronic songs, usually overlayed with dirty south rap. His editing techniques are just about flawless–you wouldn’t know anything had been changed if you hadn’t heard any of the originals. While this remix of Tiesto’s “Maximal Crazy” doesn’t have the usual vocals, it still definitely delivers the vibe. And best of all, the track is FREE! The vocals are sampled from Take That’s “It Only Takes a Minute.” If you want to get a little groove in your step, check it out. Wolfgang Gartner’s latest track, “Redline,” just released today. The whole track is super energetic, with some elements that you may not be expecting out of the artist (nonetheless, they’re still impressive). The track released on Kindergarten Records (the record label founded by the man himself), and is available today on both Beatport (here) and iTunes (here). The iTunes release is the Radio Edit, while the BeatPort release is the original mix.

Ado and Blood Music are offering you a FREE track–the song’s release kept getting delayed, and they’ve decided to simply give it away instead of letting it sit on the shelf. This song brings some quirky sounds, while keeping the track as a whole generally badass. We definitely recommend adding it to your playlists. Electric Rescue, a French techno producer who’s been around for a few years now, has just released his new EP, “Rave Strength,” on Boysnoize Records. We dig this collection of techno tracks, each featuring a beefy kick drum, nasty hoover synths, and some stylized percussions. The guys from Night Symmetry offer us two tracks, “Moon” and “444.” Night symmetry is rightly described by Bad Life Records as “In short, Night Symmetry are a thoroughly modern Chemical Brothers for the small hours.” “Moon” offers quite a minimal, heavy beat that we’re sure you’re gonna dig, and “444″ pumps out a mysterious tune.

Baskerville’s two-song EP, “The Plastics,” dropped today as well. The EP features two original tracks, the lead song “The Plastics” as well as “Baltack.” Both songs pump, “The Plastics” delivering a nice grinding bass, and “Baltack” bringing a slightly different yet no less epic sound.
